Driverless car is the actual goal, what can be the next step?
The production of cars start more of 100 years ago.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_automobile
Actually all world is working about driverless cars and electrical cars.
- But what can be the next step? After more of 100 years we are not able to find a better solution that can definitely substitute this transport system?
It is sure that car is a big invention, but several issues remain open:
Safety
The traffic on the roads is chaotic and safety is in the end in the hands of each driver and each person that can use the road. From one side the driverless solution can improve the quality and safety, but on the road can exist any kind of obstacles like animals, children that play closed at the road, uncontrolled people, etc.
Energy
The combustion engine use only a few part of the energy for motion, the remnant is lost. The electric motors loses a small part of energy, but we loss very much energy in the production, transport and storage of the electrical energy.
Relation between transported weight and total weight
That is the biggest loss of energy.Think at the case that you are at home and you want buy a bottle of wine.
You go out with car, few kilometers you find the shop and you go back at home.
In order to move 1 Kg of wine you have moved 2000 Kg of car, and you have used time of one driver, people that work in shop, traffic control and security and maintenance etc.
And more.
You have used petrol for the engine of the car.
About only the 30% of the energy become movement and rest is lost.
You have moved 2000 Kg in order to brign 1 Kg of material. You have used 1 / 2000 * 30% = 0.015% of enrgy and lost the 99.985% of the energy!
Percent of time of use
We build so many cars that we use only for few time. When you see a parking area with thousands and thousands cars, think at how many millions of dollars are lived so, paying for don’t use.Exist a better solution for transport and movement but need a big work.
